Connect science shows at the National Museum of Scotland There's a host of things to see and do for groups of all ages across all our sites. Royal Museum Project

The Royal Museum Project will transform the Victorian Royal Museum building to create an integrated and world class National Museum of Scotland, a 21st century experience built around our internationally diverse collections. The £46.4 million project, which will be completed by 2011, will open a new floor at street level, create inspiring exhibitions and new learning zones and improve access for all.

National Fund for Acquisitions

Each year, around 150 objects are added to Scotland’s collections through funding from the National Fund for Acquisitions (NFA). Museums, galleries, libraries, archives and record offices all benefit from this funding. You can apply to the NFA for assistance with a purchase if you meet the fund guidelines.

Volunteering

Collections volunteers at National Museums ScotlandAround 200 volunteers make a valuable contribution to our work at the National Museums Scotland. They help in many of our departments across all our museum sites and play an important role, increasing our visitors’ enjoyment and understanding of our collections. Our Volunteers Programme covers all aspects of volunteering, placements and internships and work experience.
