Pixar: 20 Years of Animation

Ever wondered where Buzz Lightyear and Woody really came from, or how a whole family with superhero powers was imagined?

The filmmakers at Pixar Animation Studios have been making innovative films such as Toy Story, A Bug's Life, Finding Nemo and The Incredibles for 20 years.

This first exhibition of its kind in Scotland featured hundreds of drawings, pastels, sculptures and traditional and digital paintings from their studios, as well as two amazing audiovisual experiences unique to this exhibition. From rough sketches to finished films, Pixar: 20 Years of Animation took you behind the scenes to discover the art and techniques that created some of the most popular films ever made.

The exhibition was shown exclusively in Scotland at the National Museum of Scotland in 2007.

All of the Pixar artwork and digital media were on loan from the archives of Pixar Animation Studios

An exhibition managed and toured by the Barbican Art Gallery
