Pauline Edie: jewellery maker
If you go into the woods today…
About Pauline
Pauline graduated from Glasgow School of Art with a 1st class
honours degree in Jewellery and Silversmithing. Pauline is based in
West Lothian and is currently undertaking a one year residency at
Bishopland, Oxfordshire, a post-graduate training workshop for
silversmiths and jewellers.
Pauline’s vision
Pauline’s work is inspired by childhood stories and
illustrations. Working mainly in porcelain and silver, she aims to
show the curious communicative nature of handmade forms. Her
delicate, other-worldly drawings depict fairy tale scenarios:
elements from the tales of Little Red Riding Hood, the three bears,
Sleeping Beauty and Rapunzel all feature in her nostalgic
designs.
The creative development process is important to Pauline’s work,
particularly drawing and sketching, and a number of her pieces
include drawings transferred onto the porcelain. Sketchbooks
charting her design process are on display in the exhibition.
